This cover is so bright I gotta wear shades...

I bet this was the hottest cover on the rack that week.

When I found this book, I thought the man was definitely Steve Holland.

It was a Pfeiffer cover to me, no doubt at all.

After scanning the cover and blowing it up, I spoted the Pfeiffer signature all the way to the left under the dark part of the landscape. It looks like it was half erased.

Glad to see Fred's work on a classic and a classic author. There are several versions of this Bantam book and they all have different covers. Len Leone said that Bantam liked to put out new covers on re-releases to "freshen them up."

I'm glad to see so many people who love Fred's work. I do too, and approximately 7 years ago, I was able to purchase the ORIGINAL oil painting from which the book covers for The winter of Our Discontent were printed. I found it in a huge liquidation we purchased from a publishing house in New York. It is beautiful and as vibrant as it looks as a cover (only without the title).

Judy- It would be fantastic if you would send a picture of your original painting.
