Fred Pfeiffer : Dragonard - 1976

by Rupert Gilchrist
This version of this book is
by Golden Apple and was published in
1984.

Fred was getting a lot of the slave story covers that seemed to
be published rather frequently in the mid 70's .
He has several other ones yet to come here at
the Pfiles. I understand that Fred was not averse to
going to Harlem and getting models for his illustrations
during this period in his career.

Golden Apple was some kind of imprint of Bantam's.

This publishing came a few years after the Bantam version. This artwork for the Bantam version was inside the dover. The cover had a cut-out hole that showed only the man's face.

I have seen quite a few books for Golden Apple that were originally on the Bantam imprint.

I have been told that Fred enjoyed going up to Harlem to party and meet the women for more than just modelling! :)
