Fred Pfeiffer : the Torch Bearers - 1977

by Bernard V. Dryer
Bantam Books 1977

Another dark and moody piece by Fred.
A town is burning and the bad guys look rough
Can't tell if the doctor is performing an examination
or just getting ready to perform.

Some what depressing looking piece. I am picking up on a lot of angst & dread. Looking at the small picture up above it looks like the painting is starting to burn up. Fred uses his favorite colors again on this. The painting seems well balanced to me.

Here's another "forgettable" book with a Pfeiffer illustration. It makes you wonder how many copies of a book like this would sell. The print run was probably small, which would make finding a used copy of this book pretty rare. I wonder just how many of these types of books with Pfeiffer covers are yet to be found, if they are found at all?

The hunt for these Pfeiffer covers is fun and a thrill when one is found. But I wish there was a definitive list out there of everything he did. Guess I am just trying to make that list!
