Fred Pfeiffer : Death Shall Overcome - 1969

by Emma Lathen
An early Pfeiffer for Pyramid
Books.

I love the big brush strokes and the
line drawing that becomes the detailed
man running in this illustration.

I found this paperback at Uncle Edgar's Mystery bookstore (side by side with Uncle Hugo's Science Fiction bookstore) in Minneapolis, MN. I was visiting my friend Pat Lilja who took me there. Wish I had more time.

This was one of those magic books where the back cover said "Cover: Pfeiffer" and took all the guesswork out of it! I love those!

This is another cover that looks very VERY familiar, but I can't be absolutely certain that I ever had this in my paperback collection.

To be perfectly truthful, I would never have clicked on this image in a web search for Fred's art, simply because the "design" is so different from what I've come to recognize as Fred's style.
