The town scene in the middle of the
Golem's chest is splendid.

Ah! The Golem is going to get you and chop off your head! See the blood?

You could study this painting for a long time and not see everything that is going on in it.

Of all the covers posted thus far this one baffles me the most. I ask myself, was this one of those designs based on someone's suggestion to Fred?... or was Fred just given the freedom to do absolutely anything he wanted to do on this art assignment?

I had asked Fred if he ever took the time to paint purely for the pleasure of it...to paint what HE wanted to paint. He replied that he very seldom had the time to work on what he termed "personal" art, but that on very rare occcasions he would land an art assignment that gave him the opportunity to do the sort of thing he would do if he was painting purely for the fun of it. Is THIS one of those rare occasions when he was given the chance to do just that...paint for the fun of it? We can only speculate. We'll never really know.
