Here is a set of the Louis L'Amour paperbacks that
Fred's stunning portrait graced.


The painting was that good!

I went to a big Wal-Mart one day after work in 2008 and stood looking at their tall book racks. I glanced down and I saw the green L'Amour book all the way on the bottom shelf. Seeing the picture of L'Amour on the cover, from 5 feet up, I thought it looked like an illustartion instead of the normal photo of the same scene that appears on the back of many a book.

I bent down to pick up the book and thought "I wonder if this is the Pfeiffer painting of L'Amour". It was confirmed when the copyright page stated the the cover painting was by Fred Pfeiffer.

Nice! Pfeiffer graces not one but 6 covers in 2008! That was pretty exciting, and of course I had to get all 6 different books that celebrate Louis L'Amour's 100th birthday.
