Paint Your Wagon - Pfeiffer Art Retraction
It was brought to our attention that this piece of artwork for the movie poster of Paint Your Wagon was done by Ron Lesser, and not Fred Pfeiffer. It appears on a website of Ron's, so that is pretty definite!
I was told that Fred had done the poster art for Paint Your Wagon, and assumed that this was it. Admittedly, it doesn't look Pfeiffer-ish at all, but then his style changed where needed, and movie posters usually are quite different than paperback illustrations.
Maybe there is other artwork that we do not know about that Fred did for this movie.
However, this excellent information was provided by mightymcfr from France, and we appreciate being corrected! Thank you!

Fred DID do art work connected with PAINT YOUR WAGON, because I remember my Aunt Millie making reference to that picture as being one that he did illustrations for, and she would've known. She followed her son's art career with pride.
I doubt that it was unusual for more than one artist to be given the same assignment. In the interest of time, publicity coverage would've required the talents of several artists in order to saturate the media effectively.
