Typical classic Pfeiffer going on here. With everything from some watercoloring on the cityscape background, to painted over pencils, to a full-on painting....all in one grouping.

And very appealing.

looks like a burnt umber under painting on the figures and a thinned out oil paint application over them after they are dry. He might have used alizarin crimson on the one girl to get that red.

When you thin out the paint with medium the glaze you make will dry pretty fast, same with the Burnt umber. The bottom illustration of the girl looks like it was barely washed at all. Maybe just a very light burnt umber.

All of it would have dried quickly.
