by John Masters
Epic Pfeiffer here.
Another Pfeiffer Illustration for a Masters Paperback.
The man reminds me of actor, Jeff Chandler.
The locomotive is a stand out as is the crowd around it.
Again, you can see Fred starting to use his technique on
fabric that would stay with him. I like this cover a lot.
Still yet another John Masters book cover to come.
The Best one yet. Stay Tuned. :)

Here is yet another Pfeiffer masterpiece.
Your attention is so drawn to the large figures of the officer and woman that you really don't notice how intricate the rest of the illustration is.
The large group of people waiting for the train, the train signal, the buildings in the background, and the train itself are all done in amazing detail.
I find that a Pfeiffer illustration gets more amazing with a longer time of studying it.
This edition of the Ballantine paperback was published in December 1969.
