Besides being a mgnificent illustration in an amazing shade of green, this cover means alot to me because it was the newest Doc out in December 1974 when I first started reading and collecting Doc Savage. For Christmas 1974, I got the Man of Bronze, The Monsters, Brand of the Werewolf, and The Devil Genghis from my sister Bev. Nice!
The Mongol is totally cool with the great helmet, feather sleeve, interesting ring...and oh yeah, a hyperdermic needle. What a contrast between something old and new.
Doc is done in different and realistic tones for the first time on a Pfeiffer cover.
I finally came up with the words to describe Fred's Doc Savage paintings. They aren't illustrations.....they definitely feel more like paintings and a work of art.

I think that describes them perfectly.
