In Washington people want to hear what
Fred has to say. Who is the girl in the red dress working for? Eavesdropping the old fashioned way.

Advise and Consent is a very famous book that won the 1959 Pulitzer Prize. The woman on the cover is a DC hostess who throws big parties at her home. She looks to be reviewing an invitation. The man with the briefcase is Senate Majority leader Bob Munson of Michigan, who ends up marrying Dolly. The older man is Senator Seab Cooley from South Carolina. The third man could be any of number of senatores from the story.
