Used the burnt umber, raw sienna, and orange alone and mixed
together to make several values of the colors I would use on
Doc.. Creating a light , mid and richer mid and dark. I start to build up
the arm and face a little.
I use some more burnt umber to block in around the guy and hand.
I want the face to be in the background and the hand midground.
I want Doc to be the foreground. I darken some areas on Doc as well with
the burnt umber.I am guessing, Fred liked this color a lot because it drys pretty much in a
few hours to overnight. You could use a hair dryer on it as well. I don't cause I don't
have a deadline.

In some of the different stages, Scotty always says "Now don't be alarmed, some stages may make the painting look worse. It will all come out in the end". And this is true. His pencils are always amazing and the undercoat always looks great. I usually tell him that he should leave some of his work alone after the undercoat because it looks so cool.
