Fred Pfeiffer : the Mona Intercept - 1980

by Donald Hamilton
It looks like a Pfeiffer on
the Cover, cover. Fred graces
one of the great Donald Hamilton
books. It's not a Matt Helm but
it's a great looking book. I want
to read it.

I really like this cover and the
design of the book. The color and
the art make it a standout on the
rack.

I spotted this book on the internet one day. It was featured on someone's blog. When I saw the cover I thought it looked like a Pfeiffer.

Seeing that it was on Fawcett Books, I contacted Jerry Counihan, who was the Fawcett Art Director in the early 80's, and asked what books he hired Fred for. I printed a copy of the book and mailed it to Jerry. I did get a response back from him that said "That's Fred's work!"

Before receiving Jerry's response, I finally located a book copy in a used store and verified the illustrator myself. The is a faint Pfeiffer signature to the right of the boat's bow.
